  美人,可曾聽我說過南宋人蔣捷〈虞美人〉嗎?

  「少年聽雨歌樓上/紅燭昏羅帳/壯年聽雨客舟中/江闊雲低/斷雁叫西風/而今聽雨僧廬下/鬢已星星也/悲歡離合總無情/一任階前/點滴到天明」
 
  詞人藉不同的聽雨情境抒寫人生各階段心境。夜枕綺夢的放浪青春,青春既壯而至野望四方,追求名利或理想的天涯人物,而人生天涯盡處,終是星星滿夜的髮色,這其間悲歡離合多少無奈,當真世事如煙無可追悔?

  而今晚(20030502)聽歌徹夜,窗外微風甚有涼意,讓我為你說說風中歌聲的經驗。

  記得是零二年八月的事,人在家帶家。當天培芬生病,家帶載她就診,留我權且看門,印象深刻的是當天風大,風聲滿樓。我就這樣在室內、風裡一遍又一遍的聽著《最後四歌》,這是時年八十二三的理察.史特勞斯旅經瑞士,讀了Hermann Hesse(天哪,赫曼.赫塞,我之所愛!) 與Joseph von Eichendorff有感之作。那日,是風華絕代的美人,舒瓦茲科芙的演唱,60年代與塞爾名演。

  一路聽來,〈春天〉、〈九月〉、〈我欲睡去〉而至〈遲暮〉,輝煌而感傷。〈春天〉,曾經笑語連枝的紛紛夏葉,漸次隨風旋落,躺在秋日花旁,閉上眼簾,如是寧靜,我是夢中生長的樹,赫塞寫道:「你認識我/溫柔地招手對我/因你奇蹟的出現/我渾身幸福地顫抖」,多好,如同遇見老朋友,比起柏格曼那下棋的對手,這個死的想像多可口。

  因此我是樹,在作夢的園裡(可以寫詩了),在〈九月〉。園子哀悼著將逝的夏日,滿天星星睜開眼睛,彷似豎琴的聲音捕捉這樣的神韻,還有如似鳥鳴的管聲,雖說或有欷歔不捨,但順遂了愛與死的想像,吾人棄去所有勞累,曲終法國號的問慰,溫柔的說:俗事紛擾,終將停歇;這樣體會,在在證明這是「真正的活」。

  〈我欲睡去〉,在夜空閃爍星光的時候,在心、手停歇之際,多麼惑人的提琴聲甜甜地唱出,教人忘記束縛,墜入黑甜鄉;那麼〈死亡〉,用絢麗的暮色,金黃的管絃昇起,長夜;長夜將至,遲暮又如何呢?長笛化身尋夢的鳥,一聲一聲振翅而過…,夜的邊界;漫漫長夜是人生,長夜將盡,地平線外有些什麼?理查.史特勞斯說:春天,這種期待真美。我一遍一遍,二三個小時反復聽著,有如夢過幾次春秋,神入其中;這八月的風中夜晚多美麗,當真「比死還動人/比睡可口」(陳家帶)。

  屋內喇叭聲聲傳來舒瓦茲科芙高貴遲暮的聲音;而室外,風大呼呼,迴旋作響,閉目我以耳膚感受,場景竟似朔風滿滿的原野。舒瓦茲科芙60年代的聲音並不圓潤,但是豐富的人生閱歷和深厚的人文素養,使得她發散著無可比擬的韻味;風過處,我心草卉紛紛拜倒,同時著染金黃霞色的,歌。
  
  卻不只這樣。歌聲乘風而來,如似天籟…,不,當時真有天籟;呼呼風吹,鎮屋是響,而我坐著,思情卻已歷雲低江闊之晴川,見人生道上車馬閒閒,卻是雁聲不斷,充耳風聲,滿心秋日,這是天堂的前廊嗎?還是半夢半醒間的臨界風光?〈最後四歌〉好東西!果乃天鵝之聲。

  蔣捷聽雨,雨滴紛紛全打在心上;我風中聽歌,心房也自生風,只是更有得獲接引的味道。蔣捷聽雨有感,寄調〈虞美人〉,而理查.史特勞斯〈最後四歌〉為女高音設曲,倒教有心人如我大作文章。親愛的,你也愛唱歌吧?同我一樣?我們將在歌聲中聽見彼此,接引彼此;歌聲是承諾,承諾一方春天,春天到時我將這樣告訴你:

  或許世事如煙當真無可追悔,但請你看,請你聽,那靈魂燃燒的歌唱,正緩緩上昇,成為天空的一部份。那是:大地伸向天空的手,我火熱心靈具現的耳朵,一個堅定悠長如人生的問句,給命運,給上帝。

  這可也是樂友李歐梵最愛的曲子!
  
  舒瓦茲科芙至有少有兩個錄音,一是EMI發行的得獎錄音,年輕時和Ackermann的合作;我聽的則是60年代和Szell合作的名演;Jessye Norman與Masur版本,Philip發行,較有戲劇性,能量十足,這種秋色真是健康。

  而我自己也很迷Lisa Della Casa與貝姆的合作Decca版,聲音漂亮,醉人醇酒呀,或者看來,有種以莫札特風格將史特勞斯給柔和了,純淨了,但是曲目編排以〈我欲睡去〉和〈春天〉互調,也可聯想。


  此外自己還蒐了別的,後來找到了首演歌者,女武神Flagstad的演唱,他是史特勞斯屬意的演者,伴奏是魔力充滿的福特萬格勒大師。音效雖不好,仍能感受到被接引的,巨大力量。
